SOUTH PLATTE CROSSING RENOVATION
Location: Commerce City, CO
GOLDEN CONSTRUCTORS was selected by Adams County under a CM/GC contract to lead the multi-phase renovation of the South Platte Crossing Building, a condominium-structured facility in which the County owns the basement, first, and second floors—totaling approximately 36,000 square feet. The initial renovation, completed between 2020 and 2022, transformed these floors to accommodate a range of County services, including offices for the Clerk and Recorder, Motor Vehicle, Elections, and satellite offices for the Assessor, Treasurer, and County Health Department.
The project also included the addition of a new breakroom and expanded storage in the basement. At the time, mechanical upgrades were deferred due to pending design and approval of new boilers by the building’s Owner Association. Once those systems were in place, Golden Constructors returned to complete a comprehensive HVAC system upgrade, ensuring modern, energy-efficient climate control across all County-owned floors.Given the building’s active use and multiple public-facing service areas, construction was carefully coordinated to minimize disruption, with temporary barriers and phased scheduling used to control noise, dust, and access. Throughout the project, Golden Constructors worked closely with Adams County stakeholders and building tenants to maintain operations, meet evolving programmatic needs, and deliver a flexible, future ready facility—all while navigating tight capital budgets and operational constraints.
