SITE SECURITY UPGRADES
Location: Aurora, CO
Golden Constructors served as the contractor for the Campus Security Upgrades project at CCA’s CentreTech Campus. This D/B/B project focused on enhancing campus safety through the installation of new exterior and interior security infrastructure, including high-resolution surveillance cameras, upgraded site lighting, emergency call stations, and duress alert devices. All systems were integrated with supporting electrical and low-voltage infrastructure to ensure seamless operation.
In alignment with national higher education safety standards, emergency blue light call boxes were strategically placed across campus to improve visibility and response capabilities. Golden Constructors also replaced outdated lighting fixtures and poles, reusing existing bases where feasible to reduce costs. Select new light poles were equipped with integrated cameras to expand surveillance coverage and eliminate dark zones.
The project also delivered long-term operational benefits, including reduced energy consumption and maintenance costs. While the original contract value was $1,251,783, the final cost increased due to change orders related to material substitutions, an issue that can be mitigated in a design/build delivery model through early procurement and constructability reviews.
Subcontracted scopes included mechanical, electrical, painting, asphalt, fencing, fireproofing, welding, and security systems. The project was completed on schedule and served as a foundational effort for the more comprehensive upgrades now planned under the current RFP.
