LANDLINE DOUGHNUTS & COFFEE
Location: Longmont, CO
The building that once housed Longmont’s first bank was restored to its former glory by GOLDEN CONSTRUCTORS. Originally constructed in 1875, the building has seen many uses and has been updated several times, necessitating some extensive interior demolition down to its original framing. Saving as much of the original furnishings and features was top priority. Nineteenth-century marble penny tile was found under layers of later flooring and was rehabilitated.
Not much of the original tin ceiling was intact, but a company in Missouri recreated the same pattern so an exact copy of the ceiling could be installed.
The ground floor of the structure is now 2,200 square-feet of commercial space for a doughnut and coffee shop. Landline Doughnuts replaces about 1/3 of the flour in their recipe with fresh riced mashed potatoes. It gives them a unique texture and a longer shelf life than your average doughnut.
A new kitchen was constructed in the back of the building and a new point of sale counter was also installed. The counter was re-purposed from an old bowling alley bar top.
This project was completed within the original project schedule. The original budget was $720,333.
