BLACK HAWK POLICE STATION RENOVATION

Location:  Black Hawk, CO

GOLDEN CONSTRUCTORS renovated a 153-year-old historic structure in downtown Black Hawk, transforming the outdated 2,518 SF first floor of the police department into a modern, secure facility. Working closely with City officials, we held multiple planning sessions to align design with operational needs and budget, providing value engineering options that reduced costs without sacrificing functionality. The renovation included a new layout for improved workflow, expanded dispatch center with raised flooring, relocated restrooms, and a secure inmate booking area. Security upgrades—access control on all doors and integrated video surveillance—combined with updated MEP systems to ensure reliability and continuous operation.

Despite the challenges of preserving historic integrity and meeting strict security requirements, the project was delivered on schedule and within budget. Our success was driven by proactive coordination, disciplined cost control, and innovative solutions. This experience directly applies to the Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center Renovations, where we will again balance preservation, accessibility, and operational continuity. Our proven ability to manage complex renovations in occupied, historically significant facilities demonstrates added value and ensures the City can trust Golden Constructors to deliver under similar constraints.
