HUBERT GYM RENOVATION

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Golden Constructors completed a comprehensive renovation of the historic Hubert Work Gymnasium at the Colorado School for the Deaf & Blind, delivering critical life safety and infrastructure upgrades while preserving the building’s historic character. The project was funded through Federal, State, and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF), requiring full compliance with federal provisions and reporting standards.

The scope included the installation of a new fire sprinkler system throughout the facility, which necessitated the removal and replacement of ceilings and lighting to accommodate the new infrastructure. In addition, Golden Constructors constructed new restrooms and upgraded mechanical systems to improve ventilation, heating, and cooling in both the gymnasium and adjacent fitness areas.

The project also involved the abatement and replacement of asbestos-containing flooring, ensuring a safe and modernized environment for students and staff. All work was completed in an occupied campus setting, requiring close coordination with school leadership to minimize disruption to daily operations and maintain safety for all building users.
